How offices share viruses

If your office computers aren’t linked, they can be contaminated by sharing data. For example, a common way for viruses to spread is by unknowingly forwarding an infected email file. Another way a computer virus can spread in the office is by sharing data using jump drives. The infected file is downloaded on the jump drive and then makes its way onto another computer. Then, the virus can move to yet another computer by hitching a ride on another jump drive.

To prevent infection from spreading, make sure that your security software has the ability to scan and clean external drives, emails, chat sessions and Skype messages for infections. Each time you use one of these services, the anti virus will scan it and either quarantine the threat or destroy it before it will allow you to open the file.
